Self-medication of the coronavirus led to the death of two residents of Volgograd. As reported by the Vysota 102 news agency today at the operational headquarters of the region, a 47-year-old man and a 66-year-old woman from Volgograd have died from COVID-19 over the past day. Both did not seek medical help, they were treated on their own. The man was hospitalized only after research at the hospital, where he came himself. He was diagnosed with bilateral covid pneumonia. The woman was treated herself for 5 days, and then called a doctor at home. Then she was treated on an outpatient basis, but she got worse. An ambulance team took the patient to the State Healthcare Institution “Children’s Clinical Hospital No. 8”, where she was diagnosed with COVID-19 with bilateral pneumonia.
Note that the editors of Vysota 102 have recently received complaints from coronavirus patients about the impossibility of obtaining any medical assistance. So, the Pykin family from the Traktorozavodsky district of Volgograd, who became ill with the coronavirus, self-medicates, because they cannot call a doctor at home – they do not want to go to them from the clinic. All family members are prohibited from going outside, as a teenage daughter has been diagnosed with coronavirus. Rospotrebnadzor ordered Pykin to observe self-isolation.
According to the government website stopkoronavirus.rf, 4 people have died in the Volgograd region over the past day. However, the operational headquarters confirmed only two deaths. Why the data on mortality in federal and regional statistics do not agree is now being clarified.
