Poland will introduce new restrictions due to the COVID-19 surge


Poland plans to introduce some restrictions next week in the so-called red and yellow zones due to the sharp rise in COVID-19 infection.

According to a Ukrinform correspondent, Wojciech Andrusiewicz, a spokesman for the Polish Ministry of Health, made this statement during a press conference in Warsaw on Friday.

“The Minister of Health will propose restrictions in the red and yellow zones and it is likely that these restrictions will appear soon. These will be restrictions concerning the possibility of meetings, contacts of people, ”Andrusevych said.

According to him, the Ministry of Health is currently actively consulting with experts on the further strategy to combat COVID-19. He noted that this strategy would not be to close borders, but to counter the spread of COVID-19, in particular by imposing restrictions in some counties.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Health noted that in the near future the number of infected COVID-19 will increase, which is a consequence of the return of people to a normal rhythm of life after the summer holidays. He urged Poles to adhere to sanitary requirements – to wear masks, disinfect hands, keep distance.

Andrusevich noted that today the Ministry of Health of Poland does not anticipate problems with the availability of beds for patients with COVID-19 due to the sharp jump in the number of coronavirus infections. According to him, as of today in Poland there are 6.3 thousand beds, of which only 30% are involved.

As of today, 19 counties in Poland are in the so-called yellow zone, and two – in the red.

As you know, over the past two days in Poland, a record daily number of infected COVID-19. In particular, 1136 cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed on September 24, and 1587 on September 25.
