A second teacher from the Sintermeerten College in Heerlen appears to be infected with the corona virus. The school informed the parents about this on Tuesday evening.
As a precaution, in addition to the infected teacher, three other teachers must also be in home isolation. Classes continue as usual.
On Monday, a teacher from the Heerlen school also turned out to be infected with the corona virus. As a result, in addition to her, two other teachers were also quarantined. In total, seven teachers from the Sintermeerten College are now in home insulation.

No chain reaction
The school is part of the Parkstad Limburg Foundation for Secondary Education (SVOPL). “The corona infections of the two teachers are separate from each other”, says John Monsewije. He is chairman of the board of the education umbrella organization. He has understood from the GGD Limburg South that there is no connection between the two infections. “There is no chain reaction in which teachers ignite each other here.” There are more than 1,300 students at the Sintermeerten College.

The five teachers who remain in home quarantine as a precaution will continue to teach as usual, says Monsewije. “They provide online lessons from home. So the students miss the presence of their teacher in the classroom, but not the lesson itself.” In the teacherless classes, other teachers supervise so that online classes run smoothly.
