MOSCOW, August 25 – RIA Novosti. Scientists at Mount Sinai Medical Complex at USA have found a way to determine the odds for the survival of a patient with coronavirus . A related study was published in the journal Nature Medicine . that one of the main factors influencing complications and death is cytokines, in particular – IL-6 and TNF-α. Elevated levels of these molecules have been found in the blood of patients with severe COVID-19. Scientists said that drugs that interfere with IL-6 signaling are already being tested in the world. They also emphasized that further study of cytokines and research into the effect of their blockers on the course of coronavirus infection could significantly facilitate the work of doctors working with COVID-19. Earlier, the world’s first coronavirus vaccine was registered in Russia. The drug, created by the Gamaleya Center and the Russian Direct Investment Fund, is a solution for intramuscular administration. Vaccination is planned to be carried out in two stages. This will allow the formation of long-term immunity for up to several years. The latest data on the situation with COVID-19 in Russia and the world are presented on the portal stopcoronavirus.rf.
