Loss of life due to COVID-19 in Iran reaches 20 thousand

Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health Sima Sadat Lari stated that 168 people died in the last 24 hours during the COVID-19 epidemic and 2,385 new cases were detected.

Lari stated that thus, the total loss of life from the virus increased to 19 thousand 972 and the number of cases to 347 thousand 835.

Stating that 3 thousand 882 of the patients who got the virus were treated in intensive care units, Lari gave the information that the number of those who have recovered so far has reached 300 thousand 881.

Lari also noted that the total number of tests conducted in the country is 2 million 914 thousand 49 as of today.

Lari stated that Mazenderan, Tehran, Kum, Gulistan, Northern Khorasan, Ardabil, Isfahan, Elburz, Rezevi Khorasanı, Kirman, Simnan, East Azerbaijan, Central, Yazd and Gilan provinces are high-risk states called “red zones”. He added that they were determined as regions.

It was announced that COVID-19 was first detected in the city of Kum on February 19 in Iran.
