In Yekaterinburg, because of COVID-19, the May processions and the Victory Parade were canceled


Traditional May processions and the Victory Parade in Yekaterinburg this year will not take place. The reason is the spread of coronavirus infection.

According to Alexander Dmitriev, deputy chief of police (for the maintenance of public order) of the city administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the epidemiological situation made adjustments to the traditional celebration of Spring and Labor Day and Victory Day.

So, meetings and processions on May 1 will not take place, although local unions still plan to mark this day with various actions in the format of a flash mob.

A military parade will not take place, which usually gathers thousands of citizens in the center of Yekaterinburg. “However, celebrate this holy holiday for all will be necessary, – emphasize in the press service of the city hall. – First of all, citizens will congratulate all veterans and home front workers on the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory.
