Oxford University scientists will start clinical trials on human coronavirus vaccines starting April 23.The British Independent writes about it with reference to the words of the UK Minister of Health Metta Hancock, informs UNIAN.

The minister said that in the long run, a vaccine is the best way to defeat a coronavirus. He also added that Britain has invested more money in the development of the vaccine than any other country in the world. So it is not surprising that the two leading developments take place here – at Oxford and Imperial.

Matt Hancock said that scientists at Imperial College London received £ 22.5m for COVID-19 research and Oxford for £ 20m for vaccine-related clinical trials.

At the same time Professor of Vaccinology in Oxford Sarah Gilbert stated that although it takes up to 18 months to find an effective vaccine, the vaccine developed by her team may be ready for use as early as September 2020.
