One in two Germans fears being infected by the new coronavirus, according to a poll, and men appear to be less worried than women, although they make up the majority of cases. At the same time, half of the respondents said they were satisfied with the government’s handling.
According to a survey by the Insa Institute on behalf of the BILD newspaper, 51% of Germans say they fear being infected with coronavirus. A week ago, the corresponding figure reached 40%. Of those who expressed concern, 46% were men and 54% women. Concerns about the spread of the virus are now 77%, up from 65% last week.
51% of respondents said they were “satisfied” or “very satisfied” with the government’s performance in crisis management. Government acceptance is four points higher in the western states than in the east.
